The dime

Williamsburg is highly regarded for integrating its rich historic architecture with stylish, contemporary design. Adhering to that pattern of blending old and new, the framework for The Dime’s architectural mastery can be found at the base of the building – which incorporates the 1908 landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh – while a 23-story residential tower rises above it.

Located at 275 South 5th Street on the corner of Havemeyer Street, The Dime will offer 177 rental residences in studio, one, two, and three-bedroom layouts. Every floor boasts breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline and Williamsburg Bridge, visible from nearly every apartment, and select residences feature private terraces.

The Dime offers countless amenities to make residents truly feel at home, including a fully-attended lobby, fitness center with outdoor space, half-court basketball court, penthouse lounge, and an expansive outdoor terrace featuring multiple dining areas, grills, a great lawn, seating throughout, a community garden, space for yoga, and more.

The history

To fully appreciate The Dime, it is imperative to first understand the rich cultural history on which The Dime was built. The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh was founded by William Grandy in 1864 in the basement of the First National Bank building in Williamsburg. The bank soon outgrew that space and moved to The Dime’s current location, 275 South 5th Street, in 1908. The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh became a publicly traded company in June of 1996 and, in August 2016, officially changed its name to Dime Community Bank.
